iSVP Iridium Drifter

iSVP Iridium Drifter

Overview

The MetOcean SVP-Iridium drifting buoy is an innovative addition to the spherical drifter family. The SVP-Iridium drifter has been designed and thoroughly tested to track ocean currents and provide environmental data at a designated depth beneath the ocean surface. These data are then used to update climate models, provide more accurate weather forecasting and to aid in the study of climate change.

The drifter is a self-contained unit designed for a minimum of 18 months of continuous, unattended collection of data consisting of platform position, sea surface temperature, battery voltage and barometric pressure. Additional sensor options are available, which include air pressure, salinity, wind speed and wind speed direction.
