Enhancing Your Email Experience Over The Iridium® Network

Overview:
Standard third-party applications available on the Google Play Store are typically designed to be used on high-speed internet connection. However, when using these applications over the Iridium satellite network with the Iridium GO! exec product at speeds of 22/88kbps, additional setting adjustments are recommended to provide an optimal user experience.
Prior to using third-party applications, there are settings that can be enabled on the Android device. Follow those best practices to allow your Android device to work optimally on the Iridium satellite network.
Best Practices:
- Turn on Airplane mode.
- Go to Wi-Fi settings, select Wi-Fi name, and select Treat as Metered.
- Go to your phone settings -> Turn on Battery Saver option to limit background data usage.
- We strongly recommend syncing emails on smart devices on high-speed internet prior to using the Iridium GO! exec to prevent significant slowdown and data consumption while on the satellite network.
Enabling the settings above will ensure the email only loads the core content of the email and nothing else such as images or large attachments that may hinder the performance. Once these settings are enabled, it takes up to several minutes to send and receive an email.
